I'm going to be building a custom case at my dad's friend's auto shop sometime this month/next month, and I'm toying with the idea of also milling custom waterblocks while I'm at it. But my problem is, I don't know where to get a small block of copper.

I found one place online (online metals), but it's just too expensive... $430 for a 12"x12"x1" block.

$63.74 for a .75" (thick)x 3" (w) x 12" (l) rectangle.

Anyone know any cheap places?

Yeah man, my dad used to work at a metal recycling center. They have all sorts of stuff.

They might not have a block on hand, but a lot of places will 'post a note' in their office to save something like that if it comes by. It'll be a lot cheaper, and most likely slightly oxidized on the very outside, but who cares about that.

Copper prices have been going up a lot lately, and 12x12x1 is quite a bit of copper, so that price isn't all that surprising. Have you checked your local metal supply shops?

Well I figured a 2"x2" base would be plenty big enough for an A64 (what I plan on using it for).

And onlinemetals has a 0.625" thick x 2" x 12" plate for $33 which is cheap enough for me, especially considering that's 6 blocks worth Much cheaper than spending $50 each.

I'm thinking of a design similar to a Swiftech Apogee. Any major problems with that style design? I also want to do a plexi lid like on the TDX/RBX series.
