I have a problem, I thtink... My pump, a Hydor Seltz L20 II, starts to rattle after a few hours work which gets quite annoying... Anyone out there having the same problem? I'm thinking of replacing it with a Aquastream (eheim) pump instead but I'm worried that it will have the same problem...

Yes,

eventually all Hydor's are gonna rattle. I'm sure if you drained your loop and opened the pump you'd see that the impeller shaft is grooved or worn to a thinning point on the magnet end of the impeller. I have 2 L30's and both have the same issue. This is after replacing the impellers on both. If you want a quality pump look into a MCp350 or 655 from either swiftech, or DangerDen.

Or an Eheim as you already said knaSen...

Well before you get a new pump, perhaps the problem should be investigated. Does the pump start silent and then after a few hours begins to rattle every time? Or has this occurred once and now rattles once it starts as well.

If you said yes to the former, it could be cavitation. As the water circulates through the system, it's properties do change (temperature, pressure, etc).

Thank you both for your answers!

The kit is brand new and the pump does not directly rattle. It comes after a while, like 3-4 hours I think. It is very silent when it's cool and when it gets hot the rattle get's louder and louder. No meaning for watercooling if it's not silent. :D

Edit: Is the DangerDen D5 any good? Or is this the same as the Swiftech MCP655?

just ordered the The Danger Den DD12V-D5 to replace the Hydor pump... Hopes it works better! :)
