I got an update to one of my main trading programs and now it works in 64bit.

Its really unusual that a 32 bit program will not work under the 64 bit os in 32 bit mode. The CPU has a 32 bit mode that should make it look exactly like a 32 bit CPU when a 32 bit application is run. I know there are IE incompatibilities however other than that most applications should work fine unless they talk directly to hardware, or have some dongle that requires a device driver. In the 64 bit os all device drivers need to be 64 bits.

Well I got the 64bit Windows 7 running in VMware workstation. I got an update to one of my main trading programs and now it works in 64bit. So it looks like Im heading down that road now.

Was thinking of going with the following

I downed to the 920 i7 and will try to OC it. Still undecided between the Asus P6T and the GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5

Both are good choices.

Ahh that makes sense. The problem is the setup program (probably not the application) is 16 bits and when AMD designed the 64 bit extension to x86 they axed a 16 bit compatibly mode while running under a 64 bit operating system.
