Basicly what you do, is rate the person above yous PC, what you like and what they can upgrade on, then the next person does, and so forth, kinda ongoing.

Here we go, mine in siggy.

get a new HSF, new RAM (PC3200 - 3500)

You could probably overclock that P4 a little higher. I don't really think any upgrades are necessary on your computer, but I just wanted to get the thread started. :)

someone rate my comp. (I will be getting a 9600Pro on spring break)

^^ I vote (if you can squeeze out a few more pennies) a 9600xt or 9800 non pro. It will serve you MUCH better for only a tiny bit more $. Besides vid card, you have a solid system.

My specs:

AMD Athlon xp 2000+ @ 2.1 ghz (166 fsb) 1.68v
Asus A7N8X-X
BBA 9800 pro 128mb
512 mb pc2700 Infineon ram (2.5-3-3-6)
Sb Live!
Win xp

Get 2 more ccfl's, 3 just isn't enough these days...

OK seriously though, first obviously try and get a 9800pro which is just over $200 now at newegg. Put that 9600pro in a LAN rig or second machine at home.

I would also definitely try to score a second WD800JB for like $40 at compusa or bestbuy on rebate, and set up a IDE RAID 0 array :)

(overall very nice rig btw)

right ^^^ you, get a bigger h/d or mainboard (not sure of the specs of ur one atm), ora nice heatsync since i dont kno wat u got, but h/d space :D

Eshelman,

your computer blows. Go to the Apple store and buy an iMac.

Double your RAM, get a better video card and for God's sake, get an 8MB cache Hard Drive! I just saw a Western Digital 120GB 8MB Cache Hard Drive at Fry's Electronics for $59 after rebate! You can't beat that, and Western Digital is good for their rebates, man!

ok dude you dont have to fricken bash on my computer...

i have a 9800 pro 128 mb i forgot to put on this....

Yeah well it would be nice for me to have money like the rest of ya guys.:)

edit- corrected hd size lol

^^^^
'2x maxtor dm9 8mb cache hard disks'? I hope you mean 80GB

2 Different sized monitors is kinda tack IMO, I'd sell both of them and get 1 really nice one, unless you really need 2.

Also, you have a lot of fans and a pretty loud HSF, so maybe reevaluate whether or not you need all those?

Blitz^ needs to get an 8x DVD burner since everything else it top notch.

Here's mine:

Lian Li PC-65B
Lian Li stealth optical/floppy drive covers
Antec True Power 480
(4) Panaflo 80 mm L1A
Zalman 7000A-AlCu

WD 74GB Raptor
(2) WD 200GB SATA in RAID 1
Samsung Floppy
ATI 9800 Pro
Hauppauge PVR-250
Audigy ZS
Samsung SM352
NEC 2500A
Viewsonic VP171B
Klipsch ProMedia GMX A-2.1
MX Duo
Belkin UPS 500VA
HP Laserjet 1012

lol well err i would say to overclock that 2.8 a bit .
(for the rest i dont know cause all that stuff looks good to me )

^^^^^ (EnderW) wow that's a pretty complete system, you've even got a decent tv tuner card packed away in there. I'm running a Leadtek Winfast 2000XP tuner in a secondary machine and I'm loving it.

It's pretty hard to find fault with anything in your system, except maybe you might want to overclock and squeeze a little bit more performance out of your P4 and 9800 components. Why? Because it's there. ;)

^^^^ (Overkill-X) heh, you replied while I was typing up the above. Yours is overclocked pretty nicely. :)

^
lol your comp is pretty similar to mine. perhaps some more storage or make use of your on board raid and get another 80gigger?

^

get a gig of ram.
everything else on your system is awesome

Ha, my brother has been pushing me to use my RAID, if not striped in 0 then maybe in 1 as a backup for my current stuff. He's a RAID 5 whore, though. :) I forgot to mention in my sig that I have a A06 Pioneer DVD-R burner. Being able to offload stuff from my system 4+ gb at a time to permanent media has single handedly removed my need for extra storage space.

ABIT NF7-S with 2500+@3200+
2x512 mb Samsung CAS 2.5 PC3200
Radeon 9800 NP@420/371
WD 80 GB 7200 RPM w/ 8 MB cache
Antec 1040SX w/ 400w PSU
Running WinXP SP1 and 3.7 Catalyst

Pretty decent setup, CPU will last you for a bit, so will the 9800 and 1gb ddr400. Glad to see not everyone spends the big bucks on CL2 for minimal performance increase :).
I wouldn't upgrade anything, if you need more space you should get another HD, other than that nothing except peripherals to upgrade (IE: speakers, monitor, mouse, etc.)

Once I get everything finallized and situated just right, I may overclock the cpu some, but right now it does everything I need it to just fine, so there's really no need other than bragging rights.

I think the speakers are probably my weakest area, although they aren't really part of the PC itself.
