sata drive & no 256 9600, get a 9600 pro 128 or a 9700 128.

Oh yea and that ram is not very good, get some 3200 ram because the timings are much better, and you can OC the ram to over 3700 easilly.

Definitely change the ram...mushkin PC3500 Level 2 is 135 a pop....

If you're overclocking, don't get the Asus Board. Much better choices, if overclock is your intention. Unless you want to do Vmods on the Asus????

DFI Infinity Ultra NFII $95
Abit NF7-S v2.0 $99
EPoX 8rda3+ v2.1 $93

Both the Abit & DFI share the same features as the asus except gigabit ethernet, i think. They both use the MCP-T, have SATA (the dfi has 4), etc. The 8rda3+ uses the MCP which means no soundstorm quality audio.
If you want to be overclocking, get either one of these boards. The voltage options on the Asus are lacking...especially if you get good memory like mushkin level 2.

For cooling...Thermalright SLK900A and Panaflo 92mm.

i would recommend not getting a hitachi hard drive. you should list what heatsink your getting. thats a pretty good deal on the psu for $43, i payed $80 for my 400w. i would buy the retail 2500+ just because its only what, an extra $5. i think with the retail version you get the 3 year manufacturers warranty, a heatsink, a tube of thermal paste, and all the documentation. its always good to have some extra thermal compound and a heatsink lying around the house for whatever kind of "emergency" you run into.

What's wrong with the hitachi drive?

I have the 180gxp 185.2GB drive, and it is very, very, very nice.

Quieter and faster than my WD1200JB's.

pretty sure the NF7-S is on sale for $91.99 at Newegg, Best NF2 oc'ing choice imho with 99% of the desired features (no gigabit lan). Anybody else having problems accessing newegg, it seems down for me...

I updated it a bit, im going to use my NF7-S Rev 2.0 from my current system and putting in another mobo becuase i really wont be doing much OCing on my second PC..

Its not often i get to build a new PC so can you guys please tell me what you think so i dont make the wrong decisions :)

my only criticism is the lack of hard drive space (i've got 760GB, so maybe i'm just special), and maybe the memory....the timings aren't all that great on the corsair.

If I were you, I would shop around on eBay for a cheap 120GB hard drive.

Here ya go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2781632581&category=30967

Western Digital 120GB 8MB cache $84 shipped. I'd jump on this hard drive, it will go quick...

hope I could help. Good luck.

Get corsair LL or muskin black level 2 if you can afford it. Otherwise don't sweat it. The decreased latency only increases system preformance a couple of percent.
Video card I would recomend a variant of the nVidia 5900np (not xt). Slightly more expensive then the 9600xt but much faster even in DX9. (Due to sheer brute force)
As for the harddrive Seagate is a good choice if you want a really quite harddrive, though it is not as fast as other HDs. I would personally get a WD raptor and another HD but that's just me.
