Hey guys and gals. This is my first attempt at water cooling and i was wondering what you guys thought about this setup.

Cpu Block: OCZ HydroFlow HF-MK1 (1/2" OD Barbs)

Pump : DD CPX-Pro 12v pump (1/2" OD Barbs)

I am trying to keep this setup under $300 with shipping ,thats why i went with a cheaper cpu block , any inputs on how this setup would work would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.:D

I'd swap the GT radiator for Swiftech MCR220. The GTs are restrictive and require high CFM fans to get decent performance out of them due to the fin density of the radiator.

The OCZ block is interesting. Reviews of the block said that it came within 2-3c of a Apogee GTX for half the price. It would be a nice change of pace from the EK Supremes and D-Tek blocks that most people run.

Not sure on the pump. I'm more of a fan of the D5's and the DDC pumps for reliabilities sake as well as the 5 year warranty. I'm sure others can comment on this.

Thanks for the reply. I think i will go with the swiftech mcr220 after you told me about the black ice being restrictive.

looks good to me... that pump got a good review from martins liquid lab, might give it a try myself.

Hey i own the stealth and it performs like a champ with just 2 12cm sflex fans on it, albeit i could squeeze out a couple more degrees with a push pull but trust me you should be fine for just the cpu. Dont listen to people unless they own one and have had experience with it.;)

I dont know enough about most of the items there. But I had an XSPC resevoir that then entire front of the res cracked off. like it was not properly bonded. looked fine for 6mths then water all over the floor. Fortunatly the computer shutdown before frying anything. :D

I am currently using a Dangerden resevoir for over 18mths with on issues.

I'm guessing your comment was directed at mine. I owned a Black Ice GT and it wasn't very good with low CFM fans. Swapping to an MCR220 using the same Yate Loons I used on the GT, I saw a noticeable difference within the same loop. The GT requires more static pressure from high CFM fans. Not something you want if you are going for silence.

The problem is the radiator requiring much higher speed fans than it's competitors, while providing the same cooling capacity... Hell, even compared to the old BIP radiators it tanks in low airflow situations... I'd be willing to bet that:

BIP/MCR + 1200rpm yate loon = 125w of heat dump
BIGTS + 1200rpm yate loon = 100w of heat dump.

Now, yes, I'm sure with the higher RPM fans it does win out, something like:

BIP/MCR + 2000rpm yate loon = 170w of heat dump
BIGTS + 2000rpm yate loon = 200w of heat dump.

But considering the price difference, and noise constraints...
