Just got 2 from the Egg. Haven't had a chance to install, but should be interesting in RAID 0. These are pretty much the same a the 150 just less space, correct?

According to tweakers.net, they may even be a bit faster than their 150gig brother, but nothing conclusive. Do you mind running hdtach on a single drive first to see how the 74 compares to my 150?

No.
These are not the same as the 150. Read other threads on this forum and look at the benchmarks. Most benchmarks show the 150 much faster.

you're thinking of the older 74 gb raptor, there are no conclusive comparisons for the WD740ADFD and the 150GB Raptor yet
 
That top mentioned review does indeed show the new 74GBer is faster in some areas than the 150GBer. These are the exact same drives I am buying for my RAID0 setup.

Should be pretty sick. I was just kinda hoping the price would drop a little. Prolly going to be another 3 months before the old drives are all sold out.

Let us know as soon as you get these things benched.
