Raptor - Serial ATA150?

Yes it will work on ports that support SATA II/300/3G or whatever the hell you want to call it.
The new Raptors are indeed faster. The only reason to get an older 74GB or 36GB Raptor is if the price is damned good. Typically the old Raptor still commands a fairly high price premium. Basically for $100 more you can double the capacity and double the bus speed. Not that the new one is actually twice as fast or anything but you get the point.
Are Raptors worth it in general? Well I think so, but only to those who can afford the price premium for the drives. The fact of the matter is you can get 80% or more of the performance with a standard SATA II drive that will be much cheaper and larger.
For 2), yes, it will work on an SATA II port - but only at SATA I speed.
And I will have to agree with a response that the Raptor is only worth it if you want quick access speeds over capacity. And the older-design Raptors are not worth their current going price. And some of the smaller-capacity Raptors are switching to the newer design used in the 150GB model.

Yeah I thought about grabbing some of the new 74GB drives. I have never needed more than 150GB on my existing setup for my OS or programs. All my real data gets stored on my RAID-1 setup. Since I do have a decent SCSI controller I will probably get a couple 74GB 15,000rpm Fujitsu MAX drives instead.

if your going for pure speed.. then i have heard ( i do claim it to be so, nor do i endorse this) that 2 7200.10 320 or 2 74adfds can save you a few seconds on map loading...
