oh man, just got my raptor 150 and now i can hear it through my speakers! high pitched buzzing noise coming out of my x-fi. i hooked it up to the silicon controller on my comp that way it will be by itself on the controller but if this noise stays after i reinstall i may have to move it the nvidias onboard controller. i had a wd1600 hooked up to this controller and had no noise whatsoever from it. maybe that 10000rpms is screwing with crap. im currently formatting the drive in windows before i reinstall

anyone else had this problem yet? i have a 7800gtx 512mb so i only have 1 more pci slot i can try moving my x-fi card to but that would block the vid card fan too much imo. i already have a modem in the slot neway.
ugh, i keep you all posted once i reinstall onto the raptor.
 
I had a similar problem with the X-Fi XtremeMusic card and my 29160 SCSI controller and Cheetah X15 drive. The problem was most noticeable when playing mp3's while defragmenting, lots of static. It would happen whenever there was disk access and sounds playing at the same time.

I have seen many other cases at the creative labs forum, most having to do with PCI disk controllers (not just SCSI) and the X-Fi. I took my X-Fi back to BestBuy for a refund. :(

I had harddrives do that with my onboard Realtek, Soundblaster Live, and an Audigy.

I fixed it by buying the Fortissimo III. Fixed everything!, never getting rid of this card <3
 
well, waddya know...reinstalling windows fixed the problem...ahhhhhhhh, silence.

yeah, i thought it was very very odd that reinstalling windows fixed the problem...i didnt change any wires around either. who knows what it could have been.
 
Drivers or IRQ stuff. I actually just noticed yesterday that if I open my SATA driver control panel I get a nice burst of static through my new sound card.
