So I finished my shuttle system, specs in sig. opened case today to temporarily attach a laptop hd w/ ide to copy a large amount of files I had backed up and touched raptor to see how the temps were, and it is extremely hot. hot enough to where i cant comfortably keep my finger on it. think this will cause long-term reliability issues, or is this thing designed for that kind of use?

btw, cpu temps are around 38 idle, 58 at load, and ambient case temps never exceed 46 degrees.

wow
you shouldnt use a raptor in a small case. there isnt good air flow in a shuttle.

I read somewhere that Raptors have heatsinks on them, so don't worry about it.

But I could be wrong.

There are people running 2 HDDs including one Raptor in a Shuttle case....it should be fine.
