Raptor device errors? help please...

the driver detected an error on Device\Harddisk0\D

I am using a 73gb. WDRaptor on an AMD3200+. It is running onboard sata on a msi neo platinum. I have been getting this error repeatedly since building this system. I have reformatted many times, chkdsk comes up with NO errors on the drive. All of my nforce3 drivers are up to date. The problem is my computer will restart at random times after I see the infamous Blue Screen telling me that there is a critical error. It is the only harddisk is the computer the only other drive is a lite-on dvdrw. I have tried and tried to read about this error in many places and I can't come up with anything. This is the first computer I have built since 2001. All of this new technology is new to me. I'll put my specs down if it will help, and I appreciate any help you can give me resolving this problem.

Also if anyone could answer this for me...is there a difference in using the standard 4 pin power connect on SATA drives and using the SATA power adapter? I have a Secure connect sata cord from WD but apparently I dont have a Hot spot on my ports...so does it matter which one I use?

All drivers have been updated.
 
Are you overclocking? And no, it shouldn't matter which power connector you use. But if you use the Secure Connector that came with the drive, be advised that you STILL need to connect the molex- I learned that the hard way :( !
 
The only other diagnostics programs I have ran is Western Digitals. It came back clean, says its a good drive...is there another tool I should be using? I apologize I just don't know how to determine it.

I would grab a copy of "memtest" and take a hard look at your RAM.
 
I ran memtest-86 v3.2. No errors. I let it run 3 times, no problems. Is there any other tests besides the standard ones to run? I just can't find anything anywhere about this. Could it be my mobo? Thanks everyone for the help so far...
