how much time will useing a Raptor shave off my Boot time on avg. just wondering if there worth ~$110 for a boot drive

The 36GB is a good fix if you just want boot up time and a few games to load faster. If you got the money get the 74GB though, it is faster, and only 150% the price of the 36GB with Neweggs rebate.

It all depends on what your computer is doing and loading at startup. We can't answer this. A Raptor is faster than other drives, so it's a good drive if your thinking of an upgrade.

That would depend on quite a few things as djnes mentioned. From my own experiences, the speed of your hard drive has little to do with Windows XP bootup time. The fastest boot-up times I have seen come from 7200rpm IDE hard drives connected straight to the motherboards own IDE controllers. If you go with an SATA drive then depending on the motherboard you may have an additional bios to go through for those drives to be detected. With SCSI drives you will have the SCSI controllers bios to go through which takes up even more time than SATA controllers. Don't worry about boot-up times when it comes to purchasing a hard drive.

I just switched from a 120Gb maxtor 7200 drive to a 72Gb raptor as my boot drive. Boot times are the same, give or take, but where i notice the difference is in game load times - its really like night and day.
