just as the title says, what should i do?
should i have OSes on 1 drive and games/programs on the other?
will raid0 really give me any performance if i rarely deal with large files?

The RAID0 setup will appear as a single disk, you can't split things up according to disk. The data is striped on both disks, that's how the performance boost occurs.

DO NOT go Raid 0. I made that mistake with my Raptors, and back in October one had a mechanical failure and just like that all of my data was gone. Just do a search for Raid 0, the performance boost is negligible.

A single raptor on its own is giong to be a huge boost in performance and there is little reason to run it in raid 0.

There is not a very big performance upgrade for the amount of risk it adds.

the answer to raid0 is so simple.

DO NOT STORE CRITICAL FILES ON IT!

I have a nas for that simple reason.
OS's can be reinstalled, apps can be reinstalled. Critical data should never be stored on a raid0.

Everyone that whines about how raid0 is so bad...if you would simply store your importiant files elsewhere...problem solved.

I have yet to have a hard drive fail on me without human error being a factor (the wife dropping her laptop while it was on as an example).

If you are going to be toting your rig around to lanparties, either raid5 it or dont raid at all.
