Well I just wanted to rant and let off some steam about FedEx. Normally I love FedEx. I prefer to use them over UPS, but they pissed me off on Thursday. Here is the story.

I ordered a nice CrystalFontz 634 4x20 LCD screen w/ mounting plate. It shipped FedEx Express. I had previously signed a waiver for them to release the package to my leasing office at my apartment if I was not home. I get home, no package. I check the tracking number and it says delievered. I check the leasing office. They have nothing. I call up FedEx to find exactly where was the package dropped off. They say at my apartment. I was like WTF. I never gave them permission to drop it at my door. I had them pull my waiver, and I asked some neighbors if they picked up the package by accident. One neighbor said she saw it that afternoon. I guess not some random person just got themselves an LCD screen that they will not know what to do with.

Atleast when I asked the FedEx guy if I am able to file a claim he said I could, since the waiver only released the package to my leasing office, not my front door. I was really looking forward to installing it, but now I get to call FedEx again today to file the claim and get some money from them.
 
Chalk that one up to a busy (or lazy) driver that noticed that you had a waiver, but didn't read the details. :(

I still prefer them over any other carrier, especially since they're cheaper! ;)
 
A few years back I ordered some stereo equipment. Delivery said they left it by the door but it wasn't there. I argued with them on the phone for a while until they issued a refund. I left the country not long after that for a few months so I never bought a new stereo. When I got back it was summer so I went to the back yard to clean off the grill and have some BBQ. What do I find covered by the same stuff I used to cover the BBQ? A nice big box! I looked at it and was like hmm. wasn't wet and mushy so I figured it was a new package. The stereo was there the whole time! So I now had a free $6500 stereo system. (Like you would call them after nearly 6 months to say oops my mistake) Was it wrong to keep it? Maybe but I did pay extra for insurance, Also the place I got it from was no longer in business so I wasn't about to go out of my way to make things right.
 
LOL yeah, sometimes you're the hydrant, sometimes you're the dog, eh?? ;)

The good news is that you'll get your money back, or your package contents replaced, Sib. :cool:
 
I have several problems with FedEx. In one case, I was getting a machine for review from Toshiba. You'll love this.. the FedEx guy left a written note on my front door stating that HE COULDN'T FIND THE ADDRESS!! Of course, Toshiba will never know that the deliver problem was not their fault, and they ended up having to pay for double shipping... this happens EVERY day.

One Christmas I ordered some stuff FedEx. Of course, FedEx is not designed to take the holiday load, so you get lots of... "maybe it will make it out on the truck tomorrow"... of course it NEVER does. So I drove to the FedEx distribution site and picked up my package (in the HUGE line) myself. I asked them for a FedEx hat (since I was doing thier job), but they refused to give me one.
 
My friend has a story like the BBQ one. UPS dropped off a package, but since they where not there they put it on the side of the house by the garbage cans. They did not leave any notes on the door. If the neighbors had not told them that a packages was left there, who knows what would have happened.

I am mainly just frustrated because I wanted to play with my LCD screen. My old work would let me send packages there, but my new work will not allow it. I also no longer live at a house.

what about relatives or something? send it to relative's work....
 
Man, I do feel bad for your luck. I prefer FexEx over Buster Brown.

Talk with your bank or CC company to see if you can add your work address to your card so it can be shipped to a business. Normally FedEx/UPS deliver quicker to businesses. I used to do that, but now I'm in the same building as my IT department. I dont want some higher-end stuff ending up on their desks because they think that everything newegg is theirs; ;)
 
I like my FedEx lady. After talking with her one day, I went ahead and built a package storage box on the backside of my bushes by the front porch and she agreed to put them in there if no one is home to sign for them.

She is real good about doing things like that.

UPS is another story. I only use them if I have to. I have registered 7 complaints against the same UPS driver over the last 4 months. I don't think it does any good though. :(
 
I bought a Foreman grill for my dad for X-mas from Amazon. Delivery day came and went, the tracking info said it was delivered, but guess what I didn't have? I had to call UPS, who then made me call Amazon. I got the new one delivered and upgraded to free overnight shipping though, so I was satisfied.

UPS is just as fucked up as FedEx. All shipping companies are fucked up. I know people that have worked for DHL, Airborne Express, FedEx, UPS, and USPS as drivers and handlers. They're all exactly the same.
 
USPS all that way baby! lol too bad thats not an option.

There is something to be said about knowing your mail man. The mail man who works my neighborhood has been working that route for like 15 years. He knows most of the people he delivers to and we know him. He has turned down promotions to easier routes (driving not walking) because he likes the neighborhood and knows the people. If I could I would have him deliver all my packages to me.

Last week I came home to see that my 250$ package of RAM from newegg had simply been left next to the door in my apartment complex, made me quite angry since the tracking number told me the delivery would be the next day which was when I had no class and would be there to sign for it. I would rather have to go pick it up at the distribution center then have some guy walk off with my RAM.
 
Yea i was ordering my Creative Zen Touch christmas night [oh the joy of finding a website who screwed up their pricing so u can get a 400 dollar item for 184!!!] and fedex said they would deliver it at 4:30 or something... so im sleeping in because its vacation and fedex shows up at like 8:30 in the morning. i didnt even hear the doorbell because i was dead asleep, it pissed me off because i had to wait another day for it, even though he could have put it on my doorstep [i live like 20 yards off the street in a very remote neighborhood, or left it with my neighbors. i understand why they didnt leave it but it pissed me off because i planned my day around that entire shipment at 4:30!

All my computer packages are delivered to my parents work... which is convienently about 500 yards down the street from fed ex and they get 3 deliveries a day plus someone is always there to sign for it.

USPS is horrible. They take their sweet time to deliver stuff, and their tracking system is like twelve hours (at least) behind.
 
I had them do that with a $5k check. They delivered it to the wrong door at my apartment complex. I checked the tracking number and it said "Delivered" so I called them up and told them I had not received it and that I was home all day.

I asked if they could get in touch with the driver and was told no. I argued with them for 15 minutes till they finally said they could get in touch with him.

They ended up forcing the driver who was on his way home back to there receiving place to get his truck and go back to the place he delivered the check to to retrieve it and put it in my hand personally. I was pissed. Luckily the people he gave it to were honest.

I would much rather have a package delivered 3 days slower and actually get it to me, and delivered to me by somebody who I personally know than have it get to my house 3 days quicker, only to be left at the doorstop and stolen.

Easy fix for that....tell Fedex that a sig. is needed for all packages, whether-or-not the shipping instructions say so. I did that when I was in my last apartment building. Now that I have my own place....I gots me a hidy-hole secret place! teehee. :p

I don't know any of the delivery people. FedEx almost always brings the package back to their distribution center if no one's home to get it. Luckily the center a few miles away.

But sometimes I have packages sent to school, so there's always someone to receive them. USPS, in my experiences, has always taken forever to deliver, whether to my house or to my school.
 
I just order some comic books from an online dealer, and it shipped out the 18th, the last update from UPS is from the 18th at 11pm as it was leaving the distribution center. I'm starting to think it's been lost.

I have only ever had fedex bring the package back to their distribution center once...and this is out of maybe 10 times they have delivered and I wasn't around to recieve it. In the end it is their policy to take it back and not leave it there...but it all comes down to the driver and what he decides to do.

puck : packages shipped out on friday wont usually arrive until monday or tuesday...
 
Never get your hopes up with shipping. You might get one package processed and shipped so fast that you get it 3 days early. But next time...it doesn't show up, or it's on the side of your house next to the garbage cans, or it's in front of someone elses apartment door, et-freakin-c. As much as I'd like to enjoy the fact that Newegg has gotten EVERY single one of my shipments processed and packaged super fast, and FedEx has gotten those to me at least 2 days early every time, you can never be sure of what might happen, so never "plan your whole day" around a shipment. You gotta work as the time comes. But, honestly, FedEx is great, and UPS is OK and USPS just plain sucks, at least their tracking system does. I ordered from Xoxide, right? They used USPS. I got 2 notices. "We recieved a message that we will recieve a package for delivering" and "Your package has been delivered" Jeeze, thats retarded.
 
Good ol' Newegg. Ordered two Cooler Master Blue LED fans earlier today and just got the shipping e-mail about thirty minutes ago.
 
Sib: Be sure to contact sihpping at Crystalfontz if there is any trouble with FedEx, they are good at sorting that kind of stuff and will help you out if you need it.
 
The only shipping service which screws up my deliveries is USPS. Many times I get neighbors mail, and they get mine. A few times they've left neighbors packages at my door, etc.

I've only had one package problem with UPS. The box was beat to death, the delivery guy told me that I should open it while he was there. And, he noted on his tablet that the box was severely damaged. Luckily the contents were fine.

Funny thing is, neither UPS or FedEx will leave packages at my house. Even if they don't require signatures, they won't leave them.
 
I will call FedEx today or tomorrow, just to give them one extra day for my package to not show up. Hopefully Crystalfontz had a declared value so I do not have involve them in the whole process.

I live in Maryland now, I do not want to drive to Oklahoma to pick it up. :D

And Bullitt I can not have any packages shipped to my work for security reasons.

It's insane how often we get our USPS across-the-street-neighbors' mail. It gets so annoying.

It makes you wonder how often others get our mail and don't tell us.
 
My choice of shippers:

#1 USPS Priority Mail Package gets here from anywhere in the US in 2 days, package in put into a lockbox. I can get it at my leisure. Cheaper than UPS Ground.

#2 FEDX Air They always get here by noon. (I work nights)

#3 FEDX Ground See # 2

#4 UPS I only use UPS when no other alternative is available.I hate UPS. They invariably get here late in the evening, so I don't my package until the next day.
Even if you ship it Air, they still won't deliver before noon.
UPS is a business oriented company, Residential customers are just a sideline.
