Randomly Restarting

Hi there. So, I recently purchased a new motherboard: ASUS A7N600-X. Everything is working great except for the fact that whenever I want to play some games such as Doom 3 or Halo, the computer just decides to restart after about 2 minutes into the games. My specs are listed below. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

-ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

-17" NEC Multisync FE771 SB


What kind of PSU do you have? Have you tried memtest or prime95? Try another video card driver?

Also do this:

1. right click my computer
2. goto properties
3. goto advance tab
4. click on the Settings for Startup and Recovery
5. uncheck automatically restart

If it decides to restart agian, hopefully and only this time, you want to get a BSOD message so we can see what the error is.

this sounds a LOT like an underpowered or cheapo psu.

yeah that's what i was thinking, lol i always seem to be posting right after you starhawk, but you should have at least a 400watt PSU for that.

I've got an Enermax EG365P-VE 350W. Again, I've never had this problem until I bought the motherboard.

it's a great quality psu... but only up to 350w.

you need to upgrade to at LEAST a 420w psu... the voltage fluctuations that you're seeing (the ones that cause random reboots) will only get worse... and i've heard of at least one case where it totally wiped a hard drive.
