Ok well just recently I installed Vista 64 bit on my pc and a new set of ram. When I am playing games, Vista will randomly freeze. For example, playing trackmania forever almost guarantees that my system will freeze at some point. The sound cuts out and my network connection dies, but I am still able to drive the car around. I also noticed that the wheels on the other cars on the track were glitched (not in the right place). This happens most often with trackmania, but has also occurred a few times playing counter-strike source. In source, my connection and sound also cut out. Lastly, it has happened maybe twice overall while I am not playing games and, as I said before, the sound and network connection cut out.
In every scenario, almost everything becomes unresponsive. I cannot use ctrl alt del as it will just present a black screen and my system does not present a BSOD. A few times the freeze will end itself and my system will be back to operating normally, but no error report is generated in Windows.
I've tested my ram for 12 hours straight using memtest and it did not find any errors. I have a feeling it might be a driver issue, but I'm not sure which driver it could be. Any suggestions?
System:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
4gb(2x2) DDR2 PC6400
7200rpm sata 250gb drive
evga 8800 GTS 640mb
evga 680i mobo
650watt psu thermaltake toughpower
creative x-fi fatal1ty
Thanks,
Ryan
