Ocasionally after my PC has been on for a day or so I will start to get system beeps(i would describe the sound but ive got some themes going...probably not standard)...anyhow, im using Win 7 Pro x64, with the rig in my sig. Its not affecting performance(that I know of), its just annoying....not sure whats causing it, never had it before(and i was using Win 7 since Beta)....only occurs on this install, which is coincidentally the only upgrade ive ever done....maybe its something to do with the upgrade from WIn XP to Win 7 ??(i took advantage of the student discount).......

Have you checked the event viewer for anything that would report errors? (Do you know how?)

If not click on Start -> "eventvwr" -> hit enter.

Exactly what I was going to say... my servers will do that at work when there is a system error of some sort.

lol, didnt even think of checking event viewer, ill ahve to do that when I get home. thanks

k, found some critical events...happen ever 3 days on average(after 3 days of straight run time)... getting the following:

Source: Kernel-Power, Event ID: 41, Task Category: (63), Level: Critical, User: System

i tried searching for it on microsoft help, but there is nothing, no result(even when the program itself uploads the problem) SHould i submit this with microsoft support maybe ??(this issue has happened 4 times, and basically my envrionment just freezes, i cant open anything at all, just use what is already open, not even task manager will open, and the shutdown button on screen does not work)

should i log something with microsoft for this ??? as for the beep i get ocasionally (over 20k events for it, it is Event ID 7036, says: pquote] The computer Browser service entered the ___ state."

where the ___ is either stopped or started[/quote]

the info on microsofts site said this needed no action..the noise is just annoying any idea how to end it ???

You may want to try downloading and running Memtest and also Drive Fitness Test. Definitely worth a shot.

If those tests pass, it may be related to the upgrade install. I know on here a lot of problems have been resolved by doing clean installs of Win 7/Vista rather then upgrading from XP.

with the student upgrade option, is it possible to do a freash install ???? I may be able to do an install from win vista 32 bit to 7 64 bit, need to see if i can find a disk for it.....ill give those two a shot and see what happens.

is there a 64 bit version of mem test ???? i just tried it, and it wont run(i got the x86 donwload i guess)

I found out today that iRiver is giving a .iso download for those who bought the student upgrade and are using a 32 bit OS....i sent in a support thing asking for it, will give that a go ..... my problems may be from me making my own ISO of the files ;) [used the method outlined here to do it: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/30470-make-bootable-iso-student-d-l.html , maybe thats the flaw ???]

also, the compleate OS freeze has disapeared so far since i put my ram back up to its rated speed(1600)...

Event ID 41
Source Kernel-Power
Type Error
Description The last sleep transition was unsuccessful. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding failed or lost power during the sleep transition.

sounds like maybe Sleep is broke on your particular setup?

the computer browser service stopping and starting isn't really anything to worry about.

hmm, interesting, as I dont have sleep enableded on my machine(to my knowledge i though i disabled it), that might be the problem then, my current uptime is 1 day 17.5 hours, so if it follows suit i wont know if upping ram speed was the problem for another day or so....ill have to go check and see if sleep is diasbled....thanks

then it wouldn't make any sense... but hmmm...
may check the BIOS just for giggles, see if sleep is set to S1 or S3, and change it? worth a shot anyway.

next time i power down ill check in the bios, forgot there is a sleep thing in there, lol

Hybrid sleep was enabled on my "power setting" ... turned it off will find out if i get the sleep problem, regular sleep was disabled(knew I had done that ;P forgot about stupid hybrid sleep)
