hi i have a sony sdm-hs94p 19" lcd monitor which started to act funny. Seems like every 15 mins or so it will shutoff with no green or orange power light at all and the only way for me to get it back on is unplugging it from the surge protector and replugging it in a few times. Sometimes it only takes one time some times it takes 3 or 4. Any ideas what is wrong? is my monitor dying? It is less then 3 yrs old and under warranty from sony but unfortunately i dont have my reciept so it basically isnt under warranty for me. Should i try to fix this or just go out and buy a new one? Any help would be helpful thanks.

Sounds like a over heating issue - if its in warranty get it repaired or buy a new one

I would try another surge protector at another wall outlet first just to make sure that is not causing the problem. It looks to me that the monitor is completely losing power. If the orange light stayed on it would be a problem with your video card however, that's not the case here. The problem is (for whatever reason) you lose power (be it from the power cord, the surge proctor, the wall outlet, etc). Look for any visible damage to the cord as well. It's also possible that the power cord is damaged and its cutting off the power to the monitor. Have you sat something heavy on top the power cord in the past? From your description so far this maybe the problem.
