My pc will randomly scroll up, like when browsing. Or in games (i have scroll up set to change weapons) it will do it randomly. There seems to be no pattern or anything that triggers it. It is not the mouse, as it still does it when the mouse is unplugged. I'm confident that it isn't the keyboard because nothing scrolls up AND changes my weapons on the keyboard. This is really odd, any ideas?
 
Actually the most likely culprit is that you are using the mouse wheel to scroll.. and inadvertently left the wheel between clicks. Then when it finally clicks itself back into place it will scroll up or down one..

I have it happen from time to time, and that pretty much is always the case for me. It seems to happen more the older the mouse gets (I recently replaced mine, it happens a lot less).
 
when you say it does it with the mouse unplugged...do you mean, that you start the computer WITHOUT the mouse plugged in..and then it starts?...

if so, then theres something wrong with ur southbridge (if i have my terminology correct)..and get a new mobo...939 perhaps?
 
My old microsoft scroll mouse did that all the time...I swung it like a mace and smashed it to bits...The logitech replacement I bought works much better.

No. Because the problem was happening, I unplugged the mouse to see if it is the mouse.
 
I've had the exact same issue with microsoft mice. It just starts going nuts. I ignore it though as it doesnt pop up too much.. and I love Msoft mice and keyboards. Other than directX, its the one thing theyve done right.
 
I said "it is NOT the mouse." That being said, give me suggestions other then the mouse. Because it isn't the mouse. The mouse is not causing the problem. The mouse has nothing to do with it.
 
It's funny that in the original post it said "It is not the mouse." And so far every reply has had something to do with the mouse.....
 
Since it does it even when the hardware isn't connected, it's probably something wrong with the mouse driver.

Try updating/rolling back/reinstalling the mouse drivers.

I tried that already. It still persists. I had outdated drivers when it started. So I installed newest, didn't work. Installed drivers that came with mouse, still.
