Sometimes when i try to play BF1942 Online It will start to load the map then just reboot. Any ideas on what it could be ? This is a fresh install in XP and brand new Mobo it worked fine with my old mobo last week. Any Ideas ?
 
maybe you got a virus or worm or something. If it is a new installation did you install all the patches?

EDIT: sorry i thought you meant a fresh install of XP.
 
or you can simply go into your computer properties and disable auto-reboot on system failure.

worked for me.

and make sure you have all your windows updates/drivers/and game updates.
 
Disable the auto-reboot, and you should get some kind of error message, or an event in the Event Logs that will tell you what's wrong.
 
try swapping with a different powersupply although your current one is pretty decent... but wont hurt to try
 
ok it crashed again and i got a blue screen that had the IRQL not less or EQUAL error and it listed this ALCXSENS.SYS as the problem, after googling it seems to be my onboard audio thats giving it a problem. How can I fix this I reinstalled same error and I even turned off hardware acceleration in the sound properties to no avail. Any other ideas ?
 
Go to Realtek's site and download their drivers. I had some skipping issues on my 875 board, and that fixed it.

yea i had the same problem with Jedi Knight II and my old setup... it was definately just a driver problem, because now i am back to the stop drivers on a new mobo and it works perfect.
 
Did you even try or consider what I said? I have had a couple of computers that would reboot during gaming, sitting at the desktop, surfing the web and it turned out to be bad RAM.

i dont have any ram just laying around to test and im the only one of my friends that even knows how to operate a computer fully, I did though install new drivers for my sound card as i was instructed as earlier.
 
Run the tests to see if they come back with errors. If not then you can rule out the RAM.
 
I used to use memtest86, but I found it didn't work on some computers... Eventually i saw someone post about how he had to use memtest86+. Apparently it is based off the original but has much broader hardware support.
Go to www.memtest.org and get the "Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win)". Run the program to make the boot disk, reboot and it runs on its own...
 
Whenever that happens, it always means it's a hardware problem. Meaning memory, video card, sound card, etc. Do what they said and run the memory diagnostics and update all your drivers.
 
I have no experience with USB floppy drives...
Can you access it as the A: drive? If so, it should work.
Or, if you have a cd burner, download the ISO of the image and burn it.
It will be a bootable cd.
