Sorry this post got moved to somewhere cause i posted in the wrong forum.
to reiterate:
Ok so i built this computer for a friend and it worked for like 1/2 a year then it kinda stopped. He says that it was freezing on him randomly at times, and after a while would turn off by itself. Now it doesn't even post most of the time....
the mobo is an abit AG8 915P intel chipset socket 775 with uguru.
power supply is 400W A-link (i think generic)
cpu is 2.8 ghz i think prescott non overclocked
vid card is 6600GT
2 SATA HDDs 200 gig each WD and seagate.
the thing with boot up is it sometimes has a screen and sometimes it doesn't. i've booted it with just a video card and no HDD and the posting is still quite random so i'm assuming its not a powersupply OR a HDD related problem. The fact that it posts occasionally with display suggests that the video card is also not to blame.
This i think leaves the motherboard or cpu. since cpu's hardly ever breakdown (i think) i'll just say its the cpu unless you guys think otherwise.
The uguru displays codes which tell us what the bios is doing. Occasionally it stops during the middle of checking cmos and sometimes it shows error codes that aren't even listed in the manual.
Is there a definitive way to say that the Mobo is faulty?
anyone with an abit AG8 got a similar story?
