Random PC power downs

Ok so ive had this pc for awhile most of the time it hasn't been working because of faulty parts but i finally got it running stable again. Anyways every once in a while ill have problems with random power failures most days it doesn't happen at all but others it happens quite frequently. Right now a couple of the wires on my power button came off due to bad soldering. I'm going to solder it back on but in the meantime i have small jumper cable connected to both wires to complete the connection to the power leads on the motherboard. My main question at the moment could the wires on the power switch be the cause? Because after i unclamp the jumper cable and put it back on it seems to clear up the power downs but every once in awhile it will act up again and ill mess with the jumper cable and all is well. Do you think it could just be the problem related to the power button or something else? Does this sort of problem usually result from some deeper cause?

I also forgot to add that the last 2 weeks never had a single power failure and now all of a sudden its happening again i fiddled around with the cable attached to the power button seems like its running good again.

my rig
q9450 OC 3.6ghz vcore 1.33 idle on speedfan runs 35C and mobo at 36C
corasiar dominator 1800mhz DDR3
Evga 790i FTW
BFG GTX 280 H2OC x2
Thermaltake Toughpower 1200w modular

I've replaced the motherboard in this rig atleast 4 times only with the last replacement is this happening as well but like i said with the power button configuration im not sure as to if its a mobo, PSU, or power button related problem.

When i wiggle around the wire i think is causing the problem nothing happens but when it starts acting up again i just mess around with the clamps and all seems well. So i dunno im confused any insight?

So you replaced the mobo 4 times now? Could be a faulty PSU causing that. And now it is kickin the bucket. You should contact Thermaltake and get an RMA and let them know it has damaged 4 mobos already. Thats not good, you dont want to end up taking out your GPU's with a faulty PSU.

yeah.... its prob's the psu why it might have become damage at some point when you put that wire there to make the connection to the mobo because that metal might have a different resistance then the metal used for the board

Well i forgot to mention that ive only had this problem with the 4th replacement of the mobo the other mobo's had different problems of their own. I'll contact customer support and see what they say but I just recently resodered the wires and it seems its still happening do you think its more likely the psu or the mobo given that its only happened with this 4th replacemnt mobo?

Also whenever the pc does power down the power indicator light on the motherboard is still on if i press the power button it boots back up but then like i said it will randomly shut itself off. It mostly seems to occur while playing games like for example just tried empire total war it powered down about 15 mins in. Also my gfx card temps never run over 41C at load and my CPU is around 37C at load so im highly doubtfull this could be a result of over heating. I just want to make sure that this sounds like a PSU problem given these facts because I don't know if I can withstand replaceing another mobo haha.
