Hi.
I have the following pc specs:
965BE 125W
ASUS Crosshair III motherboard.
2x2gb OCZ Black edition memory sticks.
Gfx is asus 5970 ( not overclocked )
PSU Corsair TX950W
Win 7 64 bit

For some reason the PC randomly hangs and I dont know why.

At the moment I am playing Star Trek Online.

I can sometimes play smoothly for 4+ hours straight without anything happening and then suddenly the image freezes and the sound stops with an electronic BRRRR before going completely silent.

The image does not go black, it just sits there just like it was when it froze, no artifacting is visible.

The computer does not automatically reboot, no windows commands such as ctrl alt del, win + d, ctrl esc etc works.

All I am able to do is reboot via the reset button.

The computer starts up perfectly.

I have tried looking into the windows event log but no error code is present there, it is as if the computer ceases all activity.

CPU temperature is 55C and graphics processor temp is around 50C when I'm playing.

What do you guys think? I have updated all my drivers and it has crashed in other games too, just not as frequently.

I have been dabbling with home built computer systems for over 10 years so I usually handle these problems myself but this time I just cant figure it out, everything seems to be in order but it just isnt every 2-4 hours of play.

If there's no O/C on CPU and GPU I would probably test the ram. Or it could be some odd issue where ppl need to underclock their GPU core by 1mhz (seen it a few times but never read into it).
