I can hear hissing through my headphones, although it's not constant. It'll come on for a few secs to a minute or two then go away for an hour. I've tried messing with the 1/4"-1/8" adapter and that's fine, I've also played around with the cord and that doesn't stop it either. I've routed it as far as possible from power cables/outlets.

sound card is an M-Audio Revolution 7.1
headphones are Sennheiser HD-555's
I've tried playback through both Fubar2K and winamp
 
That's when the governement mind control rays are active, you should leave it like it is so you can detect when they're trying to control you and think about puppies or something like that so they don't know what you're really up to.


Try muting the microphone device in volume control, it works for some systems.
