Hello all!
It has been a while since I've been back here pleading for help and this time I need some help from network guru's!

I currently purchased a Netgear N300 router & Linksys WMP600N wireless network card for my desktop.
Currently have a WPA2-PSK [AES] security set up.

I keep getting hit with random high latency and low speeds...and for any of you that play online FPS's or any MMO you know this can lead to a lot of rage quitting!
I've tried different channels with little success...some vary my internet speed from 1.5 mbps to 15 mbps. My gf's wiresless laptop gets about 25-45 mbps with no issue.
I've tried to eliminate any interference ie microwave, cell phone, laptop, etc... with no luck.

While I know 5 mb/s isnt terrible I feel I could do better seeing how the laptop is getting 30+ and I was getting close to that with my older router.

Any suggestions???
 
Would it only effect my computer and not the gf's laptop, my xbox, etc...??
 
you need to storp the wireless zero config service on your local pc
 
you didn't say what version of windows you have on your PC....if it's Win7, have you upgraded to service pack 1? if so, downgrade back to non-SP1.

SP1 has been causing a lot of problems with wireless connections, including on my own laptop.....everything is fine until i upgrade, then i will drop connection entirely for anywhere between 15 - 60 seconds at a time, after only being connected for about 30 - 60 seconds.

something to cause router cpu to spike?


that is wierd to spike with THAT high RTT
