well, i have a little problem that has started recently. the system in question is the A64 rig in the sig...

i'll go to bed with some music on and and when i wake up in the morning [or afternoon :p] i'll discover that my computer has hard locked. so, i reboot and windows starts normally and such, so i leave it be. i can use the computer for hours doing mundane tasks, such as web surfing and what not, and nothing will happen. however if i fire up dawn of war [the game im currently playing] then the computer will lock up soon after im i have started a map.

i have run prime 95 for a little bit, and there are no errors returned, im not currently overclocking, although i was a day or two ago. i returned everything to default clock speeds as soon as this problem started occuring. so, i was wondering what it might be... i have thought it might be the video card because of the lock ups in games, but then again, it also will do it randomly on the desktop too... but to foil that, i've used the computer for hours at a time, and nothing out of the ordinary has happened.

I had a power supply problem which was very similar to what your expriencing. I would check your PS and go from there.

yes, this was suggested to me by another friend of mine.

the only thing is that his suggestion came right after i detailed another and more recent [like in the last hour] incident. you see, as it turns out, my A64 machine also keeps killing primary master HDDs. this damn machine has been through THREE [3] hard drives connected to the primary IDE. what sucks even more is that they are all old ass IBM Deathstars that ive had for ever and they now have no warranty left to make a claim.

so, ill just buy SATAs and a new PSU and be happy again :)

btw, when do the GeForce 6600 GTs come out? i think ill buy one of those to replace the shitty FX 5700 in the A64 as well.
