Ever since a few weeks ago, I have noticed that my cpu will spike randomly and cause my frame rate in games to lag. I think this is an ongoing problem that occurs outside of games too because it randomly spikes no matter what game I run, and is probably not noticeable unless my computer is doing something intensive (running a game). I think I have tracked it down to a svchost.exe simply by minimizing my game for the 10 or so seconds the frame rates drop, and looking at task manager. The CPU power it uses will frequently spike from 0 to 50% to 0 to 20% and so on. When I right click svchost.exe and hit go to services, it links me to the following services (all PID 972):

Name Description
wudfsvc Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework
WPDBusEnum Portable Device Enumerator Service
Wlansvc WLAN AutoConfig
WdiSystemHost Diagnostic System Host
UxSms Desktop Window Manager Session Manager
TrkWks Distributed Link Tracking Client
TabletInputService Tablet PC Input Service
SysMain Superfetch
PcaSvc Program Compatibility Assistant Service
Netman Network Connections
hidserv Human Interface Device Access
EMDMgmt ReadyBoost
AudioEndpointBuilder Window Audio Endpoint Builder

I don't know how to approach analyzing these services however. Should I be trying to turn them off and on and find a culprit? Are any of these services unnecessary?

Thanks for all the feedback.
