What would cause random blue screens in XP? I say random because it's happened when I'm surfing the web, playing a game, or while watching a movie. Prime95 runs stable with no errors, and my vcore is at 1.5 right now. The rest of my system is in my signature.

Any ideas?

What are your RAM timings and voltage?

What does the error say on the blue screen?

This is weird....

My RAM freq is 170.3 MHz with a ratio (according to cpu-z) of "CPU/15" (I couldn't find where to change the ratio in this bios, meh).

Timings are on Auto at 3.3.3.6

If I remember right - which I may not hehe - you can check your system event log and see what the crash was. You want the "Stop 0xwhatever" code and the parameters on it. If you're getting the same stop code and params, could be some kind of driver problem or something. If the stop code, addresses and params change - and it sounds like they would since it happens at different times - you probably have a hardware stability problem. It doesn't sound like it should be your memory if it's running at 170mhz but I dunno, memory running that slow could be a problem or the fact that it is running that slow could indicate something else has happened to cause it.

You could back off your CPU speed and see if it continues - and keep an eye on your temps, if they're hot then that might be the problem. Maybe a fan dropped dead or something and you don't yet know about it.

If you're REAL interested in looking at what is going on and playing with a debugger, go download WinDBG from Microsoft. Configure your system (via system properties/advanced/startup & recovery) to NOT automatically restart and to write a complete memory dump. Then when it blue screens, you can look at it a while, note the stopcode anyway, and you'll get a whole memory.dmp file you can load with WinDBG. You aren't going to do much really other than figure out if you're getting the same stop code and params or not but it could be interesting. :)

Ok, first I need to figure out why my memory is running so slow. It's Corsair XMS pc3200 2x512. According to CPU-Z it's running at 134 MHz (FSB:DRAM CPU/15) with timings manually set to 2.5.3.3.8 and the frequency manually set to 266 MHz (I'm just about to try increasing it).

The cpu is at 200x10 right now (unlike my signature says).

The PCI-E is set to 33.33 MHz

Voltage (eventhough I set it at 1.45 is at 1.5 according to CPU-Z) Could this be a power supply issue? I have a 330W Powersupply....

Thoughts?

12 Amps!!!!!!???????? swap that power supply, like now! you should not even be trying to use a 3800+ with a 6800GS without at least, say, 28 Amps. This is why everything is being underclocked

haha - ok Any particuliar brands you guys prefer? I'm not much of a powersupply connoisseur :D

Ok.... I bought an Antec 480

I put Mem Settings on Auto to see what it would boot and it's still at Freq 201 Mhz (CPU/10) and 3.3.3.8 timings... :(

Is a 480 not enough? It has 2 12V both at 18Amps

I think your PCI-E is supposed to be at 100MHZ....PCI 33.3 and AGP 66.6

RAIDMAX?

that supply might be better than its ancestors
but personally I wouldnt let it in the same room with any of my rigs
Ive seen them blow up too many mobos
(I was bright enough, that none where mine)
