I went to build my father a new computer with the following parts:

The mobo and the psu were defective, so I went for this new mobo:

Any ideas for a new PSU? I am wary of the XClio again...any ideas?

The Xclio is fine. If you can swing an extra 50, the corsair HX 520 is only 106 at zzf with free shipping. A better option for the future.

Take either Seasonic S12 500W or Silverstone Element 500W Plus. If you want modular supply take Corsair HX 520W (manufactured by Seasonic). Although for your rig Seasonic S12 380W or S12 430W would be just fine.

Look at PC Power & Cooling
Non better!
Ya got a fair amount of kaasch invested, don't skimp!

The silencers, Perhaps, there are better. The Turbo cools are very good, if not a tad expensive. Why pay more than you have to when you don't have to, for something equally good?

I would suggest that you both look at the temps that those PS's are rated at at.
Most PS's at lower temps will "look" good!

Enermax rates to 40C. Silverstone rates to 50C. Zippy/Emacs rates to 40C. Heck, even some Fortron models rate to 50C. And is it really 50C in your PSU? If so, you might want to investigate the problems you apparently have.

Well 50c is only a 122F. It isn't really that hard to get upto.

Are you saying that those numbers and reasonimg are faulty ?

I said what I meant take their marketing page with a lot of salt. And Pc Power and Cooling's graph is indeed misleading as many/most "home" PSU's have a derating curve of 2w-4w per degree celsius....which is not 250w over a 20 degree spread.
