hey....

1)whats the difference between ECC and NON-ECC ram
2)what kind of ram is generally used in branded desktops & notebooks???
3) which one has faster timings i.e. which one is better?

Thanks

ECC is RAM that has special circutry to detect when there is an error in the data it is storing. It then reports that error back to the MB so the information can be resent.

Unless your building an AMD FX based pc or a server, you have never used ECC.

There is a large amount of overhead in the verifying of the data in the RAM so the latencies will be higher.
