RAM woes

Hi,

I'm currently running a P4 1.6 GHz, 394mb pc-133 SDram, radeon 9800 pro.

Obviously because my ram is SD, it's causing a low fps in any recent game I play. My question is, can I make up in amount what I lack in speed? Will adding in another 512mb make much of a difference at all?

most likely no, its prolly ur processor and ur motherboard bottlenecking as well.

get some amd mobo and a processor with some cheap ram and ull be better off.

...obviously? I'm thinking the 1.6 P4 isn't helping here, either.

IMHO - You should run at least 512MB of ram for most modern games. That and a CPU upgrade and you may be surprised as to what your system can do.

Adding another 512mb of RAM will not really help at all. I really suggest getting a new CPU, mobo and some Corsair Value RAM

I second that - you have a very good vid card that's being wasted..
 
I've been considering it for a while.

I'm thinking of getting an A64 3000+. What motherboard do you suggest for this CPU. Also, do I need to stick to PC-3200 RAM in order to avoid a bottleneck?
