RAM Upgrade Help!!!

I've seen a few posts on this website about the Velocity Micro e2250 and saw some good answers, but I'm hoping for some help on a specific issue:

As you may have already guessed I have a Velocity Micro e2250, which came with 4gb of ram installed and is upgradeable to 8gb. I downloaded CPU-Z and found out what kind of ram was on the board and ordered the same set. The new one came in and the only difference I could see is that it was 1.9v rather than 1.8v (which is what the original sticks say).

The model for the ram is: Corsair xms2 CM2x2048 - 6400C5. (The same model was preinstalled).

When I install the new ram into the empty slots in my board, the computer won't boot. It only shows the BIOS splash screen and that's it. I can't even access the BIOS. When I remove the new RAM, the computer works fine. I'm hoping it's a BIOS setting and I didn't get bad ram, but I'm a noob in regards to manually changing BIOS settings. The mobo is a ASUS P5N-D and has a Phoenix Technologies BIOS.


Also, since I'm probably going to have to play with the BIOS settings anyway (which I'll need some very specific help, again noob), I figured I should go ahead and try to overclock the processor as well (which is advertised as overclocked to 3.2ghz, but I'm pretty sure since it's a refurb that wasn't the case). I've seen a few posts in regards to this elsewhere, but I want to make sure I can get the RAM issue solved and once I have the settings for that, to overclock the processor and hopefully get everything working.

From what I understand the cooling on the tower is strong enough to handle the tweaks, but is there a way to 1) Know at what temp I should be worried, and 2) Monitor the temp?

See if your BIOS will allow you to raise the memory voltage to 1.9v. This won't hurt the 1.8v kit. Apparently you have 2 different revisions of this memory.
 
The memory voltage is set to 1.9 by default. I even raised it to about 1.95 and still no luck. I have yet to run memtest or anything like that. I'm going to try that and post results.
 
TJMax for the Q9450 is 100C, use RealTemp to monitor temps. Have you tried booting with just the new RAM installed?
 
They installed into the same slots as the old RAM? Have you run Memtest? Have you tried booting with both new sticks but one at a time, to see if just one stick is dead?
 
I put both of the new ones where the old ones sat, and it didn't boot. I haven't tried one at a time yet and i haven't run memtest yet. Once I do I'll post results.
 
Ok so I put one of the new sticks in and ran memtest, Came up fine. Second stick.... not so much. Wouldn't even boot memtest. Looks like corsair (through newegg) sent me some bad ram.
 
Also, I put in the one that tested ok as a third stick, and the computer booted fine and recognized all 6gb. I guess I have to get in touch with corsair/newegg for a replacement.
