Hello, I just got my abit IS7 motherboard with two sticks of Corsair XMS3500 256 DDR RAM. But i'm kind of confused. On the motherbaord, it shows 4 RAM slots. The first RAM slot is blue, the second one is purple, the thirs one is blue and fourth is Purple. Does it matter where I put the RAM sticks? Or do I have to put one on the first slot and the other on the 3rd?
Please Help me. Thanks.

Well, considering the manual says slots 1 and 3 are one channel, and slots 2 and 4 are another channel, you should follow what the manual says, and stick them in 1 and 3. My IC7 manual clearly states which slots are for dual channel.

WHAT

no no no! if you have two sticks you want A STICK ON EACH CHANNEL! otherwise youre just using ONE channel and not getting dual channel!

Maybe my wording was a little wrong. I meant slots 1 and 3 make up the first "pair" of channels, and slots 2 and 4 make up the second "pair" of channels. And what I said is correct about being in slots 1 and 3.

If you want dual channel, stick the two ram sticks in either slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.

right now, I have the two sticks on the first two slots. Is that alright or should I put then on the first and third slot?

As stated by several people above, slots 1 and 3 will allow you to run in dual channel....assuming your memory sticks are both the same.

They are the same, I'm going to do that now.

Thanks again.

When you reboot, on your POST screen, it should say dual channel-enabled.

Yes, it said "Dual Channel Enabled" and to think, all this time I thought I had Dual DDR enabled....

One more question, It doesn't matter whether you have the sticks on slot 1 and 3 or slot 2 and 4 right ?
