I just swapped my parts back into another case and when I fired it up, I got 3 long beeps. I found out it's the ram..

I tested a stick in slots 1 and 2 and the system boots fine... when I put one in slots 3 or 4 I get 3 long beeps. I unplugged everything... What could cause this? Is my motherboard shot?

I tested all the ram in slots 1 and 2 so I don't think the ram is bad. Just the slots. :-( *sigh*

Well, look at the bright side, you can upgrade your ram and just use slots 1 & 2 :)

It is brand new ram. :( I got 4 new sticks... I even tried using my old sticks in slots 3 and 4 by itself and it wont work.

...I might just run to Frys and pick up an intel board and i7.. LOL

...but I would really like to fix this. I might just RMA the board. It's a gigabyte 870-ud3 ver 2.1 and Phenom X4 820.

Is the RAM that you are using > DDR3 1333? If so try downclocking it. perhaps your processor can not take the memory controller overclock .

Nope... no go. I'm looking to get the sabertooth board to replace it and use my phenom II in it.. I'll RMA the other board. :(
