so, i bought some el cheapo ram sinks from compukesa today for my x800xl, strange the front chips are sinc'd and not the back, doesnt make much sense to me...anyway, i put em on there with the sticky stuff they come with, and theyre a little loose. i mean, theyre not falling off, but i can twist them fairly easily with my fingers. my question is do they get tighter over time? or do i have to worry about them falling off? and if anyone has a good reason why they didnt sinc the front ones, please enlighten me.

I believe it takes some time, but they should be tightly attached to the ram chips. Just how loose do you mean?

I've never had good experiences with that sticky thermal-tape stuff. Supposedly some of it is some kind of "phase-changing" material, but I think it's just high-temp tolerant double-sided tape.
What I have done with my ram sinks is to remove the sticky stuff, put a very small amount of arctic silver (or whatever thermal paste you like) in the center of the ram, and VERY CAREFULLY, with a toothpick, put a small dab of strong, heat tolerant glue in each corner of the ram. Then firmly press the sink onto the ram. I do this for memory, north/south bridges, mosfetts...
Doing this allowed me to get my old Radeon 9700 to 9700Pro speeds, and allowed my first nForce 2 board to hit 220 FSB (plus sanding down the chipset  - now that's scary!).
I'm sure it'll work for you too. Forget about that tape stuff. Just don't do what some have done by mistake and epoxy your sinks to the ram.
