What type of ram has the some amount of pins as ddr ram, but has 2 notches instead of 1, im thing sdram, but I could be wrong...
 
I believe that the only other memory stick with 184pin is RDRAM PC1066, but I have never seen one so I could be mistaken.

How old is the ram or can you tell?

If I remember correctly SDRAM has two notches. Two large areas followed by a smaller one on the end.

Actually if you go to www.crucial.com and start clicking on the various memory types they show pictures. SDRAM does have two notches in it where DDR just has one. That should answer your question.
