Ram problems with DFI CFX3200-DR

I just purchased a CFX3200 mobo about a week ago, and I have been having a lot of issues with getting good performance out of my ram. I noticed that on the review posted by Hardocp they were able to get the memory stable at 275mhz with 2.5-4-4-8 timings. I can't even get my memory stable at 240mhz with 2.5-4-4-8 timings. Also, when I try to use 3-3-3-8 timings, I take a huge performance drop (much greater than I should). I thought this was strange, so I put my memory sticks in an Asus A8N-SLI Premium and ran Sandra at 3-3-3-8 at 200mhz and got a score around 5800. With the exact same timings and frequency on my DFI CFX3200, I was getting Sandra scores around 3400. Anyone have any ideas?

I am no expert, but I do have the board though I use BH-5 which is different, I just thought I could point you to something that can hopefully help you out. First is OCZ Tony's page with lots of input. The key is that I think all of the timings in the DRAM page, or at least the two that Tony mentions (Max Async + Preamble), along with TREF, should be set manually. If you haven't done so already, try using the settings suggested there and also check out eva2000's page with more helpful info. When tweaking in the bios, try running preliminary tests using the integrated Memtest option located at the bottom of the CPU page (the one with voltages). For a quick and dirty test, when Memtest starts hit the keys C, 1, 3, 5, enter, then 0 to start looping test #5. You should run as many loops as possible before running Windows (as you can't use the machine while MT is running, which means it's thoroughly testing all of the memory) to make sure the memory itself won't be to blame for any instability as corruption can get ugly. If you get any errors in there, ease the timings or try a little more VDimm. Hope it works out dude, I love m'board :)

How you doing over there? I'm hunkering down and trying to get to the bottom of my random crashing. I might have to try new ram. I'm a competent tweaker, so I'll give it a go a little bit longer. I'm using rams with Micron 5bD in them.
