hi yeah i have the specs below and my problem is that after like a day or 2 my windows xp acts kinda funny. like i load a few internet explorer windows and like i cant open another one cuz its using too much memory which makes no sense cuz i have plenty.. anybody know of any programs that free up ram without closing stuff u need other than doing ctrl+ alt + delete and ending task on processes

i strongly suggest you read the Tweak Guide stickied on G[H] and read the XP section of it re: ending processes.

if it's a RAM problem that you're scared of, try running memtest86(www.google.com) overnight and see if anything comes up.

also, to scrub your memory, you can just open up notepad and type in this script:

Mystring(8000)

that's all ( i think, i'll check back when i get home ), then save it as "Memory.vbs"

then just execute the script whenever you want to scrub your memory.

hope this helps ^_-

If you are running out of RAM with 512, something is seriously wrong. Open the task manager and look at the processes running, see anything odd there? Expand the window so you can see it all and take a print screen, also take one of the performance tab. The area called 'peak' under commit charge (k) shows the total memory useage, when your peak hits the total you get the out of memory error.

The most likely cause is extra programs running, IE spyware. Download ad-aware and scan you system, chances are there is some junk there that you can remove. However I doubt your filling 512 RAM with spyware + 2 IE windows... The screen shots will tell us more. Good luck.

BTW, what exactlly does that vbs script do?
