RAM problem w/memtest

I had a quick question about my RAM. I just build a computer with the parts below. Since I've had it I've been having problems in games with occasional display driver failures and directx errors that occasionally cause the game to crash. I've tried all the different drivers/BIOS settings with on luck and so set out to test my RAM.

I ran memtest 86 for an hour and got maybe 15 errors. So I went to bios and change settings from AUTO to 5-5-5-15 (recommended settings for my ram) I then moved both sticks to the other channel and ran memtest for 8 hours. I got 45 errors in 11 passes, all of them during test#6 and the error seemed to always be 2000000 was 2200000 or something like that.

The computer is running at stock FSB, not OC'd at all yet. I had been getting good temps (21-22C idle) and was planning to OC it later once i resolved the video errors but now I'm wondering if my RAM has an issue.

Gonna try another test now with looser timings and see what happens. I'm just not sure if I should RMA the ram back to newegg, and if so, get another g.skill set or go for something else now.

------

Just realize my sig isn't on:

E6750 CPU
Gigabyte DS3L
ASF Pro7 HSF
G.skill 2GBx2 DDR2-800
EVGA 7900GTO
Corsair 520HX
Raptor 150GB

Any advice please? :)

if everything is at default, the problem could be that your RAM is not getting enough juicem. Try to see the manufacturers website for correct voltage values to your specific type of RAM.

Ok more results. I tested each stick separately for an hour each. Both in slot1. The first stick had 0 errors, the second stick had 105 errors. All the errors occurred during test#6 and were exactly the same. No errors occurred with the other tests.

The G.skill site says the RAM is designed for 1.8-1.9v. I presume my DS3L bios is 1.8v at default. I thought about putting it up to 1.9v and trying them both together again. Alternatively I could say that one stick is bad and RMA the set?

I'm currently running the "good" stick on memtest, planning to leave it running overnight to confirm it really has no errors.

Alright.

Good stick ran for 8 hours no errors (14 passes)

Bad stick at 1.9v 20 running now....106 errors first pass. Does it mean anything that it's always the exact same error?
Good: 20000000 Bad: 22000000

Anyway I imagine this means RMA-time? They're a kit from newegg so they've both gotta go back together. Did I just get a bad batch or should I just drop $$ into something better? I do(did) plan to try to OC to (I was hoping) 8x400.

if you're always getting an error in the same location, there is one spot in the memory that is bad, and increasing voltage or underclocking probably won't help. i'd advise you rma it ;)

Well the locations are different but it's always the same error...on the same test. I'm going to RMA it and cross my fingers :)

thanks everyone for the help!

oh, you mean like it's always the same bit that is wrong by the same amount, but in different locations? that's possibly fixable then

It's always:

Good
20000000

Bad
22000000

Over and over and over and over...always in test #6. The address/location alway changes tho. Seems really odd but what do I know about memory? ;)
