ram prices

I am watching ram prices on Newegg, and since the last time I checked up on it, about 3 months ago, the price of the Ram that I am looking is more expensive!!

Sucks man, hopefully when DDR2 comes out, prices will get better for us.

RAM I bought in november for "dos" in my sig was $235, now it's $257. Im waiting for it to come down to at most what I paid for it then to order another pair.

Havent you heard of the news recently?

ALL YOUR RAM FACTORIES ARE BELONG TO US!!!

J/K

Anyways, the current demand for Flash memory has jumped up tremendously. To keep up with this demand the memory manufactures have to produce more of flash. But to do so, they must reduce the amount of DRAM that is produced. So thats why the prices have jumped up recently.

They have to earn a profit before they release DDRII

DDRII wont be mainstream for quite a while.. I`ll hold off on the ram for a while till the prices comedown.. They cant keep going up, can they ?

Prices also go up with oil prices since petroleum products are used to make the chips. As most of us know prices of gas/oil are really high right now so that explains high RAM prices.

Also, the demand for memory has risen a considerable amount over in the Asian market.

That is why Hynix is looking to drop a Multi-Million dollar Fab over in Chine I think. I read the article a few days ago.

Ram prices are prolly gonna go up some more just because of the high demand for it.

Also, as the above poster said about oil prices. That that also affects it somewhat.

I finally decided to get a gig of 222 special mushkin ram.. and BAM

price went up almost $40

now @ $285

Im not buying no ram anytime soon, screw this

Just look on the bright side. The cost of everything else, for the most part has come down. Hard drives are damn near free these days.

From what I know, heard and from my own intuition, RAM prices go up and down depending on supply and demand. I know a few years back, when people were buying RAM and the manufactures werent producing enough RAM. The prices were low, and ram was going like hot cakes. Suddenly the supply decreased (less manufacturing and less too sell) and of course the prices went up. Go figure! Eventually they started to produce more and prices came down and blah blah blah, but what really drives me nuts is the price of GOOD ram. It never seems to come down. Just goes up and up and up. I mean I can understand, but still. Doesnt the rule "What goes up, must eventually come down" apply here??? I dont get it. Why can't they invent something else other than petroleum to make ram so that it's cheaper??? Maybe a bit of competition??? LOL! I bet it'd be the same story. I am so amazed on how other hardware has dropped alot in price. UNBELEIVABLE!

OMG THIS IS RIDICULIOUS

2 days ago it was $245.. yesterday it went up to $285... and now today it is @ $315 !!!!!!

I shoudlve ordered it before.. DAMN IT

The most recent RAM price spike is being blamed on speculative buying due to political instability in Taiwan (following the latest election debacle there). If the situatiuon stabilizes, expect a modest drop.

Ahhh crap, I was just about to jump in the market and upgrade my ram, hoping to find a good price.

Well that shit flew out the window.

god damnit...
