RAM - How hot is too hot?

Never really put much thought into it, but now that I'm watercooling I have less fanage then in the past.

How hot is too hot for my ram? I'm seeing around 150* f at load, at stock speeds, volts, and timings.

I'm also very curious

I have two of my folding 24/7 E6600 boxen with water cooling and a reduced fan population. (mostly front intakes). I've mostly run all my newest boxen with at least the Zalman 9700 HSF (because it looks good and blows toward the board, which I like) I've got a Tuniq Tower, a Freezer Pro and if I hadn't been satisfied with WC'ing a couple of TT Ultra Trues I have a bowed Apogee GT WB with a MCP350 on one boxen and a "el cheapo" aquarium pump and another bowed Apogee WB on another boxen, both have 3/8" tubes and a MCR220 rad. (the "el cheapo" is about to be replaced with a MCP655)

I think my cases have good air flow, I know one does, it's a Antec 900 with a huge top exhaust fan and a 120 mm side fan. (both are still runnin', the side fan keeps my chipsets chilly).

Please, someone post the max temp for ddr2 800 mem and maybe a linky as to how they came up with it. (the temp) I'll take the temps with my infared thermometer, which I've had a long time, and like with most computer temps I'll use it for a reference point.

Moocheous grassias in advance:p

Well I first noticed the heat by hand, so I grabbed the ol' fluke meter and thermocouple. I wedged the thermocouple between two sticks of ram, so thats roughly the temp of the heat spreader.

65c is too hot.

Now, I don't think it'll do any damage, but take a look at the ballistix series, they die left right and center. No use risking it.

When I increased my memory from 2GB to 4GB, the memory became unstable (errors in memtest). I used a thermocouple and found temps over 50C.

I added a cooler - OCZ memory cooler - and that improved things considerably.

The cooler's fans are reasonably quiet. However, the ridiculous chrome fan cover filled with little holes not only impeded air flow, it made the fans louder! I took the cover to my drill press and removed a lot of the cover in a circle around the fans and it was both quieter and had better flow. Looks rather crude (I could have done a neater job), but I don't have an open or windowed case.
