you a pic of his mobo socket. Id bet it lines up with a scorch
mark on the socket (and will tell you if he put it in backwards)
 
its interesting to note that its scorched on both sides of the PCB...generally if a component gets that hot and melts it wont do much to the other side of the PCB...unless of course another component on the other side freaked as well...

Check egay. PC133 is going for less than $20. Hell, ECC PC133 is going for $20.
