Raise Minimum GPU clock possible?

I have a PowerColor brand Radeon 5770 that I bought used from a friend. I noticed that the GPU idles at a really low 157.00 MHz. Sometimes when I play flash games it stays at this low setting, depending on the game.

I downloaded MSI Afterburner, but there is no setting to force a higher minimum clock. What is unusual to me is I tried manually bumping up the PCIe clock frequency, but this still did not affect the minimum GPU clock.

Is there a way force the GPU to run at a higher minimum frequency? Maybe a custom driver?

Yes, on flash games only. I want it to run at a higher minimum frequency. It does not seem to accelerate during flash games like plants vs. zombies/ bloons tower defense, etc.
 
Set the clocks you want and save as a profile in afterburner. Go to settings then profile tab. Under automatic profiles management select the profile you just made for 2D profile. Not sure if it will work but I think it should.
 
You can edit the cards bios to accomplish that. PCIe frequency has nothing to do with it. Also, if you run two monitors it will also raise the idle frequency.

This should work, but again it may not. My experience with 2d games is that the GPU automatically clocks to something appropriate for the task. My GTX 580 goes from 100-400 for something like Warcraft 3. Odd that your card isn't doing that. Maybe old drivers?

You can also make profiles in CCC, that is what i do.


Open CCC, turn on Overdrive on the performance page, make a profile/preset, then go to c:\users\yourusername\appdata\local\ati\ace\profiles see the profile.xml, right click, edit with notepad.

Now you just have to edit the want_0 AND want_1 to whichever ammount you want (want_2 is 3d, want_0 is 2d and single monitor acceleration, want_1 i think was accelerated video and multimonitor acceleration)

This ^^ Also what revdarian suggests should work too but I never tried it
 
Creating a profile in CCC, as Revdarian suggested, is the way that I would go. Afterburner doesn't always play well with some drivers(rare, but it happens) and then your 2D profile might not load.
