So are there any similiar sata boards that are reputable?
 
well, this guy would certainly recommend NOT getting an XFX syncraid.

I heard good things about this though it seems incredibly expensive in .ca
 
Definately stay away. the #@(*$@# card's latest demonstration of bad implementation was to randomly drop 3 different drives out of the array. My thoughts at the time were, loose cable - reseated and rebuilt array, Tension in short cables - rearranged drive bays to put a little slack on all, maybe having that many round cables packed together's enough to cause interferance problems replace with flat ribbons. After doing the latter last night it's bios reported 5 unasigned drives. Argh!!!!! Even assuming I can resurect the array somehow to get my data back the card and I are finished. Is it possible to get a decent parallel ata raid card anymore, or will I have to drop back to a mobobased raid 0/1 config?
 
Or if you have the option of sata, the Highpoint 2320 series is pretty cheap and fast. XFX is not on my "recommend this" list. It's not even off my "don't recommend this" list :p
