RAID1 Drive Xpert question

I had a system crash on my PC and had to reinstall windows. I unplugged every other HDD except for the SSD on which Win 7 U x64 will be installed.

Everything installed, all drivers and updates done. I plug every non-RAID HDD in and all works.

On the previous win install, I had a RAID1 array using the Drive Xpert on my P5Q-e and it was working perfectly fine.

Problem I have now ....

When I plug the 2 drives in, windows wont boot (windows logo screen that never loads)

- system repair doesn't know how to solve the error
- Drive expert is installed and drivers are up to date
- the array shows up at POST and is being correctly identified as a 2TB RAID1
- If I use the BIOS to configure Drive Xpert it tells me that all data will be lost on 1 of the drives... but I don't really want to take the chance to lose everything...

What can be done so that RAID 1 is detected once more.... with no data loss?

And if I do go with the BIOS, will I be able to rebuild it after?

Can you go into the boot option menu and simply point to the drive you want to boot from or will it not allow that?
 
Yes. Pressing F8 will allow me to choose where to boot from. In the list, I do see the RAID1 array, as well as all other devices. I chose my SSD to boot as it has the OS isntalled... and it hands on the windows 7 flowery logo...
 
How about booting into safe mode?
That way you can at least see which file the OS is hanging on.
 
cant seem to boot in safe mode,

only 2 options I have are windows repair or boot normaly .... weird!
 
IDE... AHCI doens't seem to work as I prolly didn't set it up right ...

edit: Blah, made the mistake of not checking that option before installing windows and I read it's a PITA to switch after the install!

little update:

went to BIOS and set the option of Drive Xpert to normal mode...

- Booted and got in Windows with the 2 drives plugged in.
- Both drive showed up in disk manager but one was offline and had a error report saying "This disk is offline because it has a signature collision with another disk."
- turned it online in disk Manager and now both disks are available, both work, and both have all my data...

easiest way to rebuild the array?
