Hello,

I have just built my new system with a GA-P35-DS3R motherboard. Just looking through some of the other posts, I have followed most of the steps to generally RAID0:

1/ installed 2x 400GB Seagate 7200.10 Barra's into my rig (along with a storage 500GB Seagate 7200.11 Barra.) For this I am using the motherboards own RAID controller/software (I believe thats ICH9R)

2/ Went into BIOS created a RAID0 array

3/ Upon installing Windows XP, setup asked me about the partitions, I split this 745GB partition as I wanted to install Linux/WindowsXP in dual boot configuration. (This may have broken array...which is ok, I have nothing on the disks yet) Then WinXP asks me to put a driver disk in with the drivers for the controller on it (I didn't put anything in, because I thought as it was part of motherboard feature I wouldn't need to...was that ok? [I do have the moterboard CD here, should that be put in?] )

4/ When I check in Disk Management now there are two seperate drives and total is 745GB but there are two drives one is healthy and one is unallocated so I don't believe it has worked...

Could someone please tell me a rough setup guide for setting up RAID0 through my motherboard or just a general guide through ICH9R?

Thanks in advance.

You need to install drivers on a floppy with XP to recognize the RAID array. Drivers should be on the mobo disk or go to Intel's site and download them. Make the floppy and do the install. Good luck.

if you have no floppy you may have the option in BIOS to Emulate Floppy via USB... then load the drivers up on a flash drive... but your mobo may not support this if there is actually a plug for the floppy on the mobo...

maybe you'll have to shell out a massive $7 for a floppy drive... dont break the bank now

driverpacks.net slipstream storage drivers into custom windows xp cd and the setup will recognize any ide / sata /scsi / raid drives you have

ah thanks for that mate, however I think I did the same thing myself. I used nLite and slipstreamed into a winxp install CD. Things seem to be a lot faster. Is there any way to test a RAID0 setup to ensure it's all working?

Now, when I check in disk management I see one c: drive that is the size of the two disks combined.

I'm hoping that means it's worked.
