Raid setup

My goal: Get off this Maxtor pos ide hard drive and be able to load stuff and fraps at a decent rate.

I want to do this using a raid 0 array (i think ). The drives will be used in a Gaming pc. I was thinking about one of the western digital caviar drivesx2.

What do you all recommend for a gaming raid setup?

Raid is a waist IMO. Here is what I recommend. Raptor 150GB + SATA II Seagate Prep recording drive for storage and recording fraps stuff. Size will depend on how much you need. 320GB drives are nice cheap and offer lots of storage.

raptor is out of my price range unless i just get it by itself, even then its pushing it. Maybe my local store is overpriced so i will look around.

He actually meant "perp recording drive" (perpendicular). Basically he was telling you to get a Seagate 7200.10 drive. Other reasonable drives are Western Digital drives ending in AAKS and Samsung drives under model number T166.

Would you mind elaborating how you came to the conclusion that Maxtor has a high failure rate?

I second the motion - I've owned several Maxtor disks, and the only ones that failed were on known low-quality power supplies.
