RAID+Promise FastTrack+Single Drive?

Hello,

I am adding a hard drive to my system, which as a Asus P4C800-E board in it and have a few questions how I should configure the drive. On my board I have 2 seperate RAID controllers. One is the Intel RAID, which is located on the south bridge, and the other a Promise FastTrack RAID chip. I am currently using both of the SATA ports that use the Intel one, so I have to add my new HDD to the Promise one. Theres a slight problem. First of all, the Promise FastTrack software wants me to configure the single drive as a striped volume (BECAUSE THE PROMISE CHIP WAS MADE FOR A RAID SETUP). I cannot tell it just to be a single drive?! Which brings up my next point, what should the stripe size be? I currently have Vista Beta 2 installed on another 120GB drive. I had to configure that as a 64kb stripe, single drive in Promise's FastTrack software. BUT, read on:

If my board dies (it has in the past), am I screwed to the point where I cant use this HDD in another system? Basically I am using this 320GB drive as a storage drive for my music and other files. I currently have a 200GB storage drive that is full (which runs on IDE). When my board died I simply removed the 120GB drive and put it into another system. Would I be able to do this with my new SATA 320GB drive?

If not, I will run out and buy a SATA expansion card.

Im not sure of the exact configuration, but you should be able to set that drive up as a single drive. I've never heard of a raid controller forcing you to use the raid feature, I thought that you could always set drives up as singles.
