RAID problem with 1 SATA HD?

I read somewhere about someone having a problem with a motherboard that had RAID and using 1 SATA drive with it. The motherboard was an ASUS P5RD1-V. I'll quote the exact thing he said...

The only negative is that Windows XP does not have the drivers for the ULI Raid controller. So using a single SATA hdd needs these drivers and it took a couple of attempts to get Windows to use the drivers provided by ASUS. P.S. I had to use another computer to find the makdisk program on the ASUS CD to then make a Diskette that I could then use for the third party drivers "F6" on Windows XP first load. Other than that this is a very, very nice board for the money.

I really don't know what he's talking about, so can anyone explain to me what problems he had, or if i'll encounter this problem when I use only 1 SATA hard drive, and maybe solutions? Thank you!

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI that has a built-in nVidia nForce4 SATA controller, as well as a Promise SATA controller.

Using one drive by itself, my rig and Windows recognize the drive as an IDE device (which is weird).

Once I tried cloning my IDE drive to a brand new SATA drive, Windows was no longer able to boot. After much researching, I found that I had to enable SATA RAID in the BIOS configure the lone drive as a striped RAID. Windows was now able to boot up and recognized the drive as a SCSI/SATA drive. Also, the drive was no longer referred to in device manager as a "Maxtor something something," but rather "NVIDIA STRIPE."

Oh, makre sure you have a floppy with the SATA drivers on it, just in case.

The problem there is that most motherboards nowadays can simply use generic ATA drivers for single drive installations. However, in the case of this ULI chipset, you must supply a driver on floppy and hit F6 at the beginning of setup in order for the drives to be recognized. Not a big deal, just something else you have to remember. If you don't have a floppy drive, then slipstream the drivers on to your install CD.

where can i get the drivers to put onto floppy from?

edit: im looking at the ASUS website and their downloads for this mobo, but i dont know which drivers to download and put on a floppy. help?
