RAID on one IDE Channel?

Im gettin ready to try out a little mobo love using my onboard raid0 controller in an ide setup. My question is whether or not i should seperate the drives on to their own channels, or leave them chained together?
 
if possible you should ALWAYS have 1 drive per channel if possible.
2 Opticals on same cable/channel is next
and last is having 2 HDDs on 1 channel.
 
I got kindof the same problem. I was looking into RAID 0 and how do I put 2 IDE hard drives and one IDE (oh yeah, the floppy too?) into 2 slots. I don't think I can put the optical drive with a HD on the same cable. So does putting the 2 RAID 0 hard drives on the same cable cancel the whole effect?
 
There is no "real effect" of RAID0 anyway, as the results are all over here, Anandtech, StorageReview, etc. It's a hyped up feature that's pretty much been debunked. Many will still argue, but facts are facts. Anyway, if you want to still run a RAID0 array, your going to have much better performance with each drive in the array on it's own channel. I've never seen a motherboard that doesn't have separate IDE ports for the onboard RAID, so there's no confusion on where to install the optical drives. Make each of the hard drives the master on each of the two RAID ports, and you'll be at the best performance point for the RAID0 array.

Well, there are cases where RAID 0 helps, such as for video editing. But in general (load times, boot times etc.) it doesn't help at all
 
I'm not sure if this has much effect now, but i know the older ide stuff could only handle one request on the bus at a time, so if you had two drives and were requesting data from each, it was actually slightly slower because only one drive could send data at any given time.
